HISTORY
The Beginning
The LRHSD schools began fiercely united as Team 1647, the Iron Devils. Then in 2009, a Storm was stirred and this Lenape/Cherokee coalition began, accommodating even more in-district students passionate about robotics. In 2022, a Storm swelled again and two new teams emerged: Cherokee Charge 2722 and Lenape Red Watch 2720.
This rookie year robot was named Stormy, complete with a floor intake, turret, and hooded shooter. It all began in a Cherokee woodshop, 80 students, 5 teachers, and 3 Lockheed Martin volunteers. The "Gear of Death" turret is still on display around the wall clock in Jim Hessler's old classroom, Room A203, at Lenape High School.

Due to the pandemic, FIRST offered teams projects that could be done virtually, while still implementing concepts of STEM. The projects offered were Inifinite Recharge at Home, Game Design Challenge, and FIRST Innovation Challenge.
In addition to a mostly virtual season, the Storm Robotics Team created post season projects which allowed students to continue participating in-person, virtually, or hybrid.
